A Return to Calm: Finding Gratitude in Crochet

Months have passed since my last visit to this dear blog, and I admit I let myself get caught up in the relentless machinery of duty. The incessant demand for monotonous stimuli and exhausting rhythms simply overwhelmed me. My body, my soul, and my simple happiness suffered deeply.

Embracing Mindfulness

Fortunately, I broke free from that hypnosis and promised myself to "become aware." To become aware of the conditioning so I don't fall back into it, and more importantly, so I don't condition others. It's about paying attention and being sensitive to the color of the sea, the shape of the stones and trees in every place. It's about being sensitive to what those around me think and feel, to their joys and sorrows, and recognizing them within myself too.

Perhaps this can be a bit more complex in life, but not in crochet. With weaving, it's easy to focus on textures, colors, shapes... no mechanics, no resistance. It's easy to practice mindfulness and gratitude when calm, pleasure, and creativity fill the space.

The Yarn That Links Calm and Gratitude

One thing I've "become aware of" is how much I love following the work of everyone who dedicates a second of their lives to FIFI. Their original ideas, the way each person uses color, their successes with patterns, their yarn mishaps... a social network like Instagram can, when used well, become an instrument of joy and gratitude. It's a space to witness the talent of others and share the progress of one's own practice, learning, unlearning, and inspiring each other.

To my surprise, the more I grew in silence, calm, and gratitude, and the more gratitude I felt for the work of others, the more creators arrived with whom to share my quiet practice. And now, in this small FIFI space, we are already over 2000 beautiful people sharing and celebrating creativity!
